How To Lower Uric Acid Supplement Ideas to Try

Gout pain is associated with a build up of uric acid in the body. When the body can not properly flush it from the system, it finds somewhere else to go. In gout patients, it forms crystal deposits in the joints, and that leads to pain, swelling, redness, and tenderness. One of the best ways to avoid gout pain is to lower the amounts of uric acid in the body, and though medications are diet are helpful, there are also other ways to try to limit the amount in the body. Food Supplements:  While food is not really a supplement, there are a few that may help when an attack of gout pain occurs. Some recommend that anyone with a flare up immediately eat fruit and vegetables, as much as possible with each meal, for at least two to three weeks. Cherries may have an impact on the amount of uric acid in the body, so they should be eaten or taken in the form of juice. Shoot for one half a pound per day, or the same amount in juice form. Blueberries are said to be beneficial as well.

Flax Seed: Flax may help with joint inflammation. It might not work well to lower uric acid, but it can offer some relief from the joint swelling.

Omega 3 Oil: Like Flax, this oil can help with inflammation and may help heal or at least stop more tissue damage within the joint.

Burdock Root: This uric acid lowering supplement helps the body flush out the excess toxins better, and with gout, that would be the uric acid. It may help maintain a healthy level of uric acid thereby minimizing gout symptoms, or reducing the number of flare-ups.

Folic Acid: Some research has suggested that folic acid could help reduce uric acid in the system. However, there is conflicting research in this area. Folic acid is good for the body, but taking more may be beneficial if recommended by a doctor.

Vitamin C: Most people are aware that vitamin C is good for the body, but it may also help with gout pain. It has been shown to help the body flush out excess uric acid. However, it should be noted that for some reason, there are times when that backfires and it inhibits the release of the acid. This is another supplement that might help, but should be discussed with a doctor before trying for proper dosage and medical monitoring.

Quercetin: This acts as an antihistamine of sorts. Those trying this gout remedy usually take about 300 mg a few times a day between meals. This supplement may help suppress the production or uric acid.

For gout sufferers knowing which lower uric acid supplement to use can end up being trial and error to find ones that work well for them. However, its important to consult your doctor before attempting any of these supplemental treatments with the possible exception of dietary changes. These treatments can great results, but they may also interact with medications or make other medical problems worse. Never attempt any of them unless properly supervised by a doctor.

    I have benefited by all your suggestions, especially the cherry jiuce , which is also in supple capsule form. I haven\’t had an attack since last october, but my uric acid levels remain a little high. This is due mainly to secondary gout, caused by Lasix, a diarectic.

    The evidence over whether pomegranates are good or bad for gout seems to be rather conflicting. Pomegranates have a fairly high acidic content - so not good for gout. However they also have anti-inflammatory properties and have been shown to protect against osteoarthritis. It has also been reported that pomegranate extract is good for gout. So I’m afraid I don’t have a definative answer for you Kamla. I would suggest that you avoid pomegranates if you feel that they are contributing to your gout.

    Can you eat whole-grain breads, yeast dinner rolls, French bread, some websites says yes others say no? What about whole-grain cereals like Cherrios or oatmeal? Canned pinto beans?

    Like pomegranates, cranberries have conflicting reports about whether they are helpful or not. There is some suggestion that cranberry juice can help to flush uric acid from the body, however cranberries are quite acidic and a number of people report that gout worsens when having them. I would suggest avoiding cranberry in all its forms if possible.

    i tried cranberry juice during my gout attack with lots of pure water (no clorine) and my gout subsided almost immediately! toe still a little stiff but i can walk now! going to dr. for blood test on uric acid level…then i’ll see what is going on….also tried omega 3 caps (3) dailey and staying away from alcohol especially beer! no red meats and no high acid veggies. still need to monitor uric acid level…thanks!

    I am very sorry if my writing not in a good grammar at all. Firstly I visit your website to reproduce your article in my own blog in my language and share with you the benefit. But after I red your newsletter and some comment, I should tell you one true story of mine.

    Last two week, I have visited my uncle in hospital due to a serious gout. He have gout more than 15 years and now he is age 58. He could not sit and always lay on the bed for a week at that time. But he could speak very fluently although he couldn\’t move his both hands and legs. I saw a lot of big swollen surround the join at knee, ankle, fingers and few other places.

    The real reason that I am here is not only gout, he said. It is due to the burst of my big intestine. I have 5 places of intestine burst and fainted.

    Lastly, he told me that the real reason of intestine burst due to the taken of too much pain killer for his gout. This pain killer is the real reason of his intestine burst (that was the reason doctor told him).
    His kidney was not functional very well and make his gout severe.
